How to find a village from a Minecraft seed

Where villages generate

Villages generate in plains, desert, savanna, taiga, snowy tundra, snowy taiga and sunflower plains, plus a handful of surrounding biomes. Placement is driven by a structure grid, so villages appear at somewhat regular spacing rather than randomly - the scan lists the ones nearest your position first.

Village types by biome

The biome decides the village style: oak-and-cobblestone in plains, sandstone in desert, spruce in taiga, acacia in savanna and snowy spruce in cold biomes. Desert and plains villages are the easiest to spot from the surface, and each style stocks different trades.

Why villages are worth finding

Villagers trade for emeralds, enchanted books, tools and armour, and an iron golem farm turns any village into a steady iron supply. A village also gives you beds, food and a ready-made shelter early on, which is why it is usually the first structure players look for.

The scan runs in your browser on the same free engine as the main SeedFinder console: no download, no login, and it reads Bedrock and Java seeds. Prefer to script it? Use the same engine over the REST API. See the API documentation.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find a village in Minecraft?

Enter your seed and position in the console above, keep Village selected and press Scan. Every village within the radius is listed with its X/Z coordinates and distance.

Does it work on Bedrock and Java?

Yes. Set the Game version field to Bedrock or Java and the scan uses the matching village placement rules.

How far should the radius be?

The radius is measured in chunks (16x16 blocks). Start at 100 and raise it to search farther from your position.
