Who is responsible for your data

MineSeedFinder is a personal, non-commercial project run by @zebedelu (GitHub), who is the controller of the little data the site touches. Write to contact@mineseedfinder.com for anything about this policy or about your data.

What the site handles, and why

There is no account to create, no name, e-mail or password to give, and no world to upload: the site keeps no copy of your seed or your coordinates, with one exception - the search report you choose to send with a poor rating, described below. Only two kinds of data exist, and each has a single purpose.

Request data, which the host that serves these pages records in its logs: IP address, type of browser and device, the page requested, and the date and time. It is recorded so that the site can be served at all, so that abuse can be stopped, and so that it is clear which pages are used. It is not linked to a name, and no profile is built from it.

Feedback text and one search report, only if you use the feedback box on the SeedCracker console: what you type, and - if you tick "Send with diagnostic" when the rating is low - a snapshot of that one search. The snapshot holds the structure types and coordinates you entered, the settings you used and what the search returned, so a search that did not work can be reproduced and corrected. Both are shown in the box before you send them, and you can edit or delete them there. Please do not put personal information in that box.

Cookies, web beacons and IP addresses

Advertising and analytics providers may use cookies, web beacons and IP addresses to collect information as a consequence of the ads served on this site and of the way the site is measured.

Advertising

Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to your website or other websites.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

The ads are what keep the site free. The Google advertising loader is requested on every page, but the ad units themselves are switched off, so no ad unit is requested and no advertising cookie is set while that remains true; if they are enabled later, the two paragraphs above apply as written.

Opting out

You can opt out of personalised advertising from Google at adssettings.google.com, and from other participating vendors at optout.aboutads.info. Google also explains how it handles data from partner sites in How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps.

Other third parties

The host. The company that serves these pages counts page views and keeps the request logs described above. The count is cookie-less: it uses a hash that rotates daily, sets no cookie and keeps no cross-site identifier for you.

The feedback service. It is used only on the SeedCracker console, only after a search there finishes, and it receives the text you typed, the search report if you chose to attach it, the page address, the referrer and your browser's user agent. The site is the controller of that data, and it is processed on the site's behalf and for no purpose other than reading your message.

The names of these two providers are available on request at contact@mineseedfinder.com.

Your rights and the law that applies

Whoever you are, you can ask what personal data this site holds about you, ask for a copy, ask for a correction, ask for deletion, ask how your data is shared, and withdraw any consent you gave. The site keeps no user database, so these requests are usually answered by confirming that nothing is held about you. Requests go to contact@mineseedfinder.com, and making one will never change how the site treats you.

Because the operator runs this site from Brazil, Brazilian law applies as well: the General Data Protection Law (LGPD, Law 13.709/2018) also gives you anonymisation, blocking of unnecessary data and portability, and you may complain to the Brazilian data protection authority (ANPD).

If you live in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the GDPR or the UK GDPR gives you these rights plus the right to object to processing and to complain to your national supervisory authority. If you live in a US state with its own privacy law, such as California, you may have similar rights of access, correction and deletion, the right to know which categories of information are handled and who receives them, and the right not to be treated differently for asking. Write to the address above and the request will be handled under whichever of these laws applies to you.

Retention and transfers

Request data and feedback are held for their own limited periods by the providers described above, some of which process data outside Brazil. The engine never sends your seed or your coordinates anywhere on its own. The exceptions are the search report you choose to send with a poor rating, and the console's no-WebAssembly fallback, which asks this site's own server to run the scan and is used only to answer it.

Changes to this policy

The policy changes when the site does; the date at the top of this page is the date of the last change.
