How to find trail ruins from a Minecraft seed
Where trail ruins generate
Trail ruins generate buried in taiga, old-growth taiga and jungle biomes (plus a few more land biomes), usually completely hidden under the surface. You will not see them on the surface - the scan coordinates are what lets you dig straight down to one.
Archaeology and suspicious gravel
Trail ruins are the archaeology site: brush their suspicious gravel with a brush to reveal hidden items. Most of the structure is under dirt and gravel, so dig out the area and brush every suspicious block you uncover before it falls out of reach.
Armor trims and the Relic disc
This is where you find the Wayfinder and Raiser armor smithing templates and the Music Disc Relic, alongside pottery sherds. A trail ruins scan plus a brush is the fastest route to the archaeology collection, so grab the closest ruins and start brushing.
The scan runs in your browser on the same free engine as the main SeedFinder console: no download, no login, and it reads Bedrock and Java seeds. Prefer to script it? Use the same engine over the REST API. See the API documentation.
