How to find a ruined portal in the Nether

Where Nether ruined portals generate

Nether ruined portals generate throughout the Nether in almost every biome, including the basalt deltas, soul sand valley and the lava shores. They are built partly from gold blocks and blackstone, so they stand out against the red terrain.

Gold blocks and loot

The Nether variant carries more gold than the Overworld one: chests hold gold ingots, nuggets and blocks, plus obsidian, fire charges and occasionally enchanted gear. Breaking the gold blocks in the frame gives a fast stock of gold for the early Nether.

Enter your Nether coordinates

The scan reads the coordinates you give it, so when you search the Nether enter your Nether X/Z position, not your Overworld one. Keep the same seed; only the coordinates change between dimensions.
