How to find a mineshaft from a Minecraft seed

Where mineshafts generate

Abandoned mineshafts generate underground in almost every biome as sprawling networks of corridors, rail tracks, wooden supports and cave-spider webs. They often break into caves and ravines, so the scan coordinates mark the structure's anchor chunk rather than any single tunnel.

Cave spiders and safety

Mineshafts are packed with cave spider spawners and webs. Bring a bucket of milk or water, silk touch or shears for the cobwebs, and light the corridors - cave spiders hit fast and poison you, and swimming away from a spawner is the quickest escape.

Ores, chests and diamonds

The tunnels expose iron, gold, redstone, lapis and the occasional diamond, and mineshaft chests hold rails, name tags and more ores. It is the classic early-mid game loot run, and knowing a mineshaft is nearby tells you where to dig straight down.

The scan runs in your browser on the same free engine as the main SeedFinder console: no download, no login, and it reads Bedrock and Java seeds. Prefer to script it? Use the same engine over the REST API. See the API documentation.
